This attorney will play a critical role supporting the company's regulatory, corporate, and commercial operations. The ideal candidate has strong experience in insurance law and regulation—particularly in P&C—and demonstrates excellent judgment, business acumen, and the ability to work in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Insurance Regulatory
- Advise on state insurance regulatory matters
- Monitor and interpret changes in insurance statutes, regulations, bulletins, and NAIC developments
- Contracting and Commercial Support
- Draft review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements including: Producer and MGA, Reinsurance, Vendor and technology, NGAs, Services agreements
- Partner with business units to structure workable solutions with a risk-balanced approach
Corporate Legal Support
- Support governance activities and corporate recordkeeping
- Assist with corporate transactions, organizational changes, and corporate documentation
- Provide general counsel support on day‑to‑day operational issues
Employment and HR Support
- Provide guidance on employment policies, practices, and employee relations issues
- Assist in compliance with federal and state employment laws
Cross-Function Collaboration
- Work closely with the business units and executive leadership
- Help build and improve legal processes, templates, and controls as the company scales
Qualifications and Experience
- J.D. from an ABA accredited law school; admitted to practice in Illinois
- 7-10 years of legal experience, with at least 3+ years in commercial property and casualty insurance regulatory work (law firm, regulator, or in-house)
- Preferred qualifications that would make the candidate stand out
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities with sound judgment and a practical, business-oriented mindset
- Experience in surplus lines and/or large-risk insurance products and captives
- Familiarity with insurance holding company systems and filings

Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range for this position is $270,000-$290,000 plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors including experience, education, and location.
