A Leading Gas Analytics Company seeks an experienced business attorney to support its growth initiatives worldwide. The position will report to the General Counsel and have career growth potential. The position will be responsible for drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements. The successful candidate will also have a broad business law background and be capable of counseling clients on business planning and compliance questions in diverse legal subject matter areas, including data privacy, employment, environmental, export control, intellectual property, and software licensing. The position will also work integrally with the Company's Finance and Legal team and contribute to defining and implementing business processes to support a maturing business organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Draft and negotiate diverse commercial contracts with sophisticated customers and business partners.
  • Provide strategic legal advice for business development initiatives and new business opportunities.
  • Contribute practical advice and leadership in support of support of contract review processes, workflow management, and continuous improvement of contract administration.
  • Lead the company's legal activities relating to cybersecurity and data privacy matters, including monitoring data privacy matters, including monitoring data privacy law developments and updating policies.
  • Actively support A Leading Gas Analytics Company business presence worldwide, including the establishment, governance, and support of subsidiary companies in APAC, EMEA, and LATAM.
  • Advise the Company in diverse corporate compliance areas, including employment, environmental, export, and privacy.
  • Develop and deliver training presentations and compliance programs.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and current bar membership in at least one US state is required.
  • At least four years of relevant legal practice experience, in a corporate legal department or at a nationally recognized law firm.
  • Proven, hands-on experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Practical experience with contract management policies and CLM tools.
  • Good practical knowledge of business law applicable to technology companies (e.g., data privacy, employment, intellectual property, software licensing, etc.).
  • Strong moral compass and understanding of business and professional ethics.
  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and balance business needs with legal risks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate legal requirements to non-legal audiences.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with ability to work constructively with clients having diverse personalities and operating styles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work under time pressure while maintaining a good sense of humor.
  • Ability to work onsite at our Santa Clara location to the extent needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • California Bar membership or ability to qualify as registered in-house counsel (RIHC) in the State of California.
  • Environmental law counseling experience is desirable but not required.
  • Experience supporting software development and licensing programs is desirable but not required.
  • Experience negotiating and working with public utility customers is desirable but not required.
  • Experience with government contracting and procurement processes is desirable but not required.
  • Foreign language proficiency is desirable but not required.
