Job Duties and Responsibilities:
To add to our team of talented people, we are currently seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel, Intellectual Property reporting to the Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Intellectual Property. Responsibilities include managing EchoStar's worldwide patent portfolio, conducting patent harvesting activities with EchoStar technical teams, original prosecution of strategic patent applications, and analysis of licensing requests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications for a portion of EchoStar's portfolio with a primary emphasis on EchoStar's portfolio supporting its satellite television and streaming businesses
- Engage in patent harvesting efforts with engineering teams
- Engage in prosecution drafting of claims for strategic patent applications
Skills, Experience and Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- J.D. degree with strong academic credentials from an accredited law school
- 6+ years of IP experience at a major law firm, boutique IP firm or corporation, including drafting and prosecution of at least 50 original U.S. patent applications
Skills and Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of patent laws
- Demonstrated project management capability
- Admission to practice as a patent attorney before the USPTO
- Admission to the Colorado Bar, or the ability to become admitted promptly under Rule 222 of the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure (Single-Client Counsel)
Position is located on-site five days a week at EchoStar's headquarters in Englewood, Colorado
