This role is required to be on-site. This role will be posted from September 16th, 2025 - October 16th, 2025.

What you will do:
  • Lead Counsel, IT will be the primary legal subject matter expert on IT and technology related matters across the legal function. Areas of focus include:
    • Review, draft and negotiate critical IT, software and other technology related agreements as well as other corporate related contracts and master service agreements.
    • Advise business stakeholders and legal colleagues on IT, cyber security, data protection and privacy, AI, or other technology based legal issues and terms.
    • Establish repository of software, cyber security and other related contract terms with stakeholders and legal team based on Operating Segment risk and jurisdictional requirements.
    • Support risk analysis and evaluation of technology, software or AI tools defined by business objectives as well as implementation.
    • Support incident response of cyber security or data breach incidents.
    • Track and interpret new legislation and regulations impacting technology.
    • Prepare and deliver IT focused training for stakeholders.
  • Work closely with procurement, commercial, operations, and other stakeholders including other segments of Legal department.
  • Draft template contract language, including supply chain contracts and IT contracts that support needs of stakeholders.
  • Provide legal support on strategic business objectives and initiatives supporting commercial, procurement and operations stakeholders.
  • Assist in retaining and managing external counsel as necessary.
  • Comply with all Company standards, policies and procedures pertaining to appropriate conduct for employees, including the Statement of Core Values and Code of Business Conduct; the Respect in the Workplace Policy; Safety, Health and Environment Policies; and any other applicable standards, policies and procedures as implemented and/or revised by the Company or by legislation.

What you will bring:
  • A law degree, and be a member in good standing with local jurisdiction.
  • 3-7 years of post-bar call legal experience in private practice or in-house (in-house experience is preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience with IT and other technology related agreements, including drafting, negotiating and reviewing.
  • Experience with cyber security laws and incident response frameworks for data/cyber breaches.
  • Demonstrated legal knowledge in areas of cyber security, data protection, and AI and other emerging technologies and their legal implications.
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills.
  • Experience in supply chain matters and with agriculture, mining or heavy industry.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating supply chain agreements for digital projects, including procurement of IT systems, hardware and software.
  • Ability to advise on software licensing agreements (on-premise, SaaS, cloud-based, subscription, perpetual).
  • Knowledge of safety, health and environment obligations and how IT systems interface with critical operations.
  • Ability to advise on technology matters and risk mitigation in fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of people, job functions and business segments within the organization, and externally advance legal department and business goals.
  • Ability to identify legal risks and provide risk adjusted advice.
  • Willingness to learn and understand strategic and operational aspects of the business and adapt in a dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple and varied legal projects with competing deadlines
