- Meet with and onboard new clients
- Prepare and review estate planning documents, probate documents, and Medicaid applications
- Complete legal research and prepare probate pleadings and motions
- Prepare and review estate tax return filings
- Meet with clients to review documents prepared for them and explain the same in plain English
- Communicate status with to clients and keeping matters updated is essential
- May occasionally require attendance at court hearings
- Manage busy caseload
- Maintain knowledge of applicable law and CLE credits
- Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal statutes and applicable laws
- Counsel associates to resolve or prevent conflicts
- Stay updated on changing applicable laws and statutes on the local, state, and federal levels
Qualifications:
- 5 years of required experience as a senior associate in the legal field, ideally in Estate Planning and Elder law
- Admitted to practice law in Massachusetts
- Admitted to local and state bar associations
- Takes initiative, enjoys collaborating closely with senior staff, “takes the ball and runs”
- Has a passion for excellence and delivering results, both in terms of volume of work completed, timeliness, accuracy, and completeness.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to engage with clients in a persuasive, professional manner
- Demonstrated ability to manage a busy caseload, working independently with oversight from the managing attorney
- Four-year bachelor's degree and successful completion of law school from an accredited law school
- Able to work independently while handling multiple files
- Completion of a 4-year bachelor's degree, as well as 3-year law degree from an accredited law school
- Exceptional time management and interpersonal skills are desired, as are exceptional writing and verbal communication skills
- Applicants must have trial, mediation, and arbitration representation experience
- At least 5 years of experience working as a senior associate attorney
