Description:

OCFL (offices in Hanover and Westborough, MA) is seeking a Senior Associate or an Of Counsel attorney who is confident in the courtroom, strategic in case management, empathetic to what clients are going through, and passionate about making an impact.

You'll be handling complex, high-conflict litigation in emotionally charged cases with autonomy while assisting in mentoring junior attorneys or family law residents and collaborating with a values-driven team. This is an opportunity to commit to C.H.A.N.G.E. - which also stands for each of our firm's values. We invest deeply in professional development, leadership training, and long-term career growth, and we're looking for someone worth that investment.

The position requires someone based in Massachusetts, although much of our legal work is done virtually, so long as the employee remains in good standing. Court appearances are primarily in person, which could require you to be in court from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., so the ability to get there and stay there with no distractions is crucial.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hearings, trials, mediations, and depositions
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, separation agreements, and discovery responses
  • Provide strategic advice and maintain strong client communication throughout the case lifecycle
  • Supervise and mentor our junior legal team and paralegals, as applicable
  • Collaborate with leadership to improve the firm's process and uphold C.H.A.N.G.E. values (Courageousness, Honesty, Ambition, Navigation, Growth, Empowerment)
  • Seek out client feedback and future referrals for a job well done

Qualifications:
  • Must hold a valid license to practice law in Massachusetts and be in good standing
  • Must have 5+ years of family law litigation experience (if less, ask about our Associate Attorney position)
  • Must be able to attend court in various counties within Massachusetts
  • Strong need for someone in Plymouth County, but open to residence in other counties we regularly practice in (which is in most counties except for the far western side of the state)
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines, high-stakes cases, and client expectations with professionalism and empathy
  • Just as good a negotiator as a litigator utilizes proactive and problem-solving thinking

Base Salary plus Performance Bonuses so that your annual salary (not including benefits) will likely be anywhere from $135,000 to upwards of $200,000.
  • QSEHRA Health Reimbursement Program
  • 401(k) Match program
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Student Loan Reimbursement Program
  • Professional Development and CLE opportunities
  • Hybrid work environment availability

Compensation: $125,000 - $200,000 yearly

About OConnor Family Law
Values: C.H.A.N.G.E.

Courageousness: Life unfolds in proportion to your ability to face fears, stand up for what is right, and inspire change. Sometimes, someone else needs you to be courageous for them so they can find the strength in themselves.

Honesty: We don't just tell people what they want to hear. The truth isn't always the easiest, but not telling it destroys trust.

Ambitiousness: We shoot for the stars and never settle for being just good enough. The goal for massive improvement is to try to be just 1% better every day.

Navigator: Our goal is to be like a lighthouse that continues to shine and guide others through the rough waters to safety.

Growth: We possess a never-ending drive to push ourselves and those around us to continuously improve personally, professionally, and emotionally.

Empowerment: When you change the way you think, you change your future. We cannot empower someone to do or be something; we can only give them the tools to empower themselves to reach their goals.
