This position is fully remote within California.About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Attorney to independently manage a litigation portfolio within our insurance subrogation practice. This role is ideal for a litigator who thrives in an autonomous environment, consistently drives case progress, and is motivated by meaningful leadership growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a subrogation litigation portfolio of 60-75 cases with minimal oversight
- Develop and execute litigation and settlement strategies
- Ensure procedural compliance and meet all deadlines
- Maintain organized, resolution‑focused files
- Identify and escalate high‑risk or high‑exposure matters
- Exercise day‑to‑day strategic and tactical decision‑making authority
- Maintain consistent forward momentum on all matters
- Prevent unnecessary case stagnation and keep aging controlled
- Drive settlement opportunities and manage drafting/response timelines
- Identify workflow bottlenecks and support efficiency improvements
- Provide guidance to Associate Attorneys
- Reinforce drafting expectations and case activity standards
- Lead structured case reviews as needed
- Support paralegal workflow and operational coordination
- Contribute input to performance reviews and development planning
This position is intentionally structured for upward mobility. Over time, the Senior Attorney will assume greater responsibility for:
- Firm‑wide legal oversight
- Managing and developing junior attorneys
- Leading structured case reviews
- Reducing routine involvement from the Founder
- Advancement toward a Managing Attorney/Partner role depends on:
- Portfolio performance
- Demonstrated leadership
- Strong legal judgment
- Consistent adherence to performance standards
- Ability to operate with minimal supervision
- Equity partnership may be considered based on long‑term performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, in‑good‑standing California attorney license
- Minimum 5 years of insurance subrogation experience
- Proven ability to independently manage litigation from start to finish
- Strong settlement negotiation skills
- Experience guiding or mentoring junior attorneys
Preferred Qualifications:
- Comfortable working with defined performance metrics
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted drafting and legal workflows
- Demonstrated interest in leadership development and long‑term firm growth
Compensation:
- Base Salary: $160,000 – $190,000, aligned with California subrogation market standards and commensurate with experience
- Structured performance bonus program with the potential for $100,000+ in annual payouts based on firm performance
