Hollander & Hollander is a small, well-established law firm in Oakland with additional offices in California. We specialize in Estate Planning, Family Wealth Planning, Trust and Estate Administration, Business Management, and transition. We also practice Probate, Medi-Cal, and LTC.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual who is highly motivated to work and learn about our business. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, communicative, detailed in their work, and ready to incorporate their skills into practice with our clients. All prospective clients will be provided to the attorney by an already existing marketing and business development team. The prospective clients will be scheduled onto the attorney's calendar. We have a plug-and-play process that any attorney should be able to succeed in if they follow it.

Job Summary:
The Associate Attorney will consult with prospective and returning clients, analyze their estates to prepare appropriate estate plans, and ensure that legal documents are appropriately drafted to meet their planning needs and recommendations. The role requires leadership, legal acumen, and operational management skills to ensure the firm's objectives are met efficiently and ethically.

Key Responsibilities:
Case Management:
  • Oversee caseload by maintaining accurate records and client communication in our internal systems.
  • Review and approve estate planning documents, including but not limited to Wills, Revocable Living Trusts, Irrevocable Trusts, trust administration documents, and probate proceeding documents that the legal support team assists with drafting.

Client Consultations:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and assess any opportunities to refer clients to affiliated wealth advisors.
  • Meet with prospective clients for consultations and gather all necessary information to make planning recommendations.
  • Meet with current and former clients to review possible changes, updates, and/or upgrades to the estate plan.
  • Manage client communication with the legal support team regarding case updates, legal strategies, and issue resolution.

Legal Team Support:
  • Join the team of one paralegal and one legal assistant on day-to-day tasks, ensuring the timely completion of legal work.

Strategic Planning:
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to implement the firm's strategic goals.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Estate Planning Experience.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of law firm operations.

Skills:
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Familiarity with wealth docs and other Wills and Trusts drafting software.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Well-organized and capable of multitasking.
  • Highly capable of creating an orderly, structured work environment.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Ring Central, Practice Panther, and Microsoft Suite are a plus.
  • Experience with litigation and discovery is a plus.

Working Conditions:
  • Full-Time, 1099 - Contract position with revenue share.
  • Some travel between Oakland, CA., and Larkspur, CA, is required.
  • Free office space in Oakland, CA.
  • A hybrid schedule with in-person requirements when needed.
