Your Role:
This position will provide advice, counsel, and subject-matter expertise to CareScout, Genworth's care services business, including representing the business on existing and new product design and implementation, advertising and training materials review, operational and product initiatives. This individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations relating to the products and operations of the care services business.

What you will be doing:
  • New Initiatives support: Support the design and development of new business initiatives, including direct-to-consumer efforts as well as ensure that initiatives align with regulatory requirements and the organization's policies
  • Marketing Support: Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure compliance with relevant advertising regulations. Review marketing materials, advertisements, and promotional campaigns for legal compliance.
  • Sales Support: Assist in the development of sales agreements and contracts. Provide legal guidance to the sales team on pricing, negotiations and terms and conditions.
  • Technology/Web Disclosure: Stay current with healthcare technology regulations and web disclosure requirements. Advise on data privacy, cybersecurity, and HIPAA compliance related to technology and web platforms. Review and update the organization's website and online content to ensure legal compliance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor changes in healthcare laws and regulations affecting the network. Collaborate with the compliance team to develop and implement compliance strategies.
  • Risk Management: Identify legal risks associated with business activities and develop strategies to mitigate them.

What you bring:
Required:
  • JD degree from an accredited school, admission to the bar of at least one state
  • 10+ years' experience as legal counsel in insurance and/or related corporate matters
  • Ability to collaboratively develop strategies with the business while providing guidance on legal aspects of those strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Possess and model the Genworth's values, exceptional leadership skills and have high levels of competence in the following areas: collaboration, communication, customer focus, leadership and influence and results-orientation
  • Excellent organizational and negotiation skills, strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communicator and vigorous analytical and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to assess legal business risks proactively, efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic

Preferred:
  • Prior experience interacting with a state or federal regulator
  • Prior product experience, preferably with a focus on some or all of the following: long-term care insurance, long-term care services, long-term care or medical provider networks
  • Knowledge Healthcare Regulation, HIPAA, GLB and ERISA, and Medicare and/or Medicaid regulations
