Description:

A Full-Service, International Law Firm is seeking a high-preforming senior level associate interested in working on all things patent related for its growing Patent group in the Firm's Parsippany, NJ office. On a case-by-case basis we will consider candidates who prefer to work in one of the firm's other office locations but Parsippany is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Handling all aspects of patent litigation in federal district courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (approx. 60% of your time)
  • Handling proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) (approx. 20% of your time)
  • Supervising and providing guidance to patent agents in furtherance of prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). (approx. 20% of your time)
  • The successful candidate will be equally adept at collaborating with partners and clients to develop litigation strategies and handling the nuts-and-bolts of litigation (conducting discovery including depositions, document review, and expert witness preparation, drafting motions, etc.)

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 6 years of law firm experience. Candidates with significantly more experience are encouraged to apply.
  • NJ Bar admission (or admission in resident state if outside NJ).
  • Candidates must be admitted to practice before the USPTO and the PTAB.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field are preferred.
  • Strong command of relevant rules related to federal patent litigation, PTAB proceedings and patent examination
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Candidates will be asked to demonstrate strong writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience being the main driver of a case and a seasoned go-between for younger associates and partners is preferred.
