Role Context:
We are looking for a senior, commercially minded technology lawyer who will act as a lead legal partner to the business, working closely with the teams that are driving Worley's digital strategy. The position is designed for a lawyer who has lived inside a technology organization - supporting the development and commercialization of digital products and solutions, and cyber security issues, on a global scale.
The role sits within the Technology & IP Center of Excellence and will play a critical part in enabling Worley's Digital strategy while managing complex legal, regulatory and commercial risk across jurisdictions.
You'll be:
- Digital Products & Software
- Providing end-to-end legal support for digital platforms, SaaS products, internal tools and data-driven solutions, from concept through build, launch, scale and retirement.
- Advising product, engineering and commercial teams on product lifecycle governance, licensing models and go-to-market strategies.
- Drafting, negotiating and advising on product terms, customer and partner agreements, distribution and reseller arrangements.
Artificial Intelligence
- Leading legal advice on AI product development and deployment, including risk assessment and mitigation for AI-enabled products and tools.
- Advising on global AI regulatory compliance, including the EU AI Act and related international frameworks, and support operationalizing governance frameworks.
- Supporting ethical AI use, algorithmic risk review, human-in-the-loop governance, and AI contracting, including data usage, training, and model risk allocation.
Cyber
- Advising on global cyber regulatory frameworks and obligations, translating legal and regulatory requirements into practical, business-aligned guidance for digital products, platforms and customer projects.
- Providing strategic legal input into Worley's cyber risk posture in digital offerings, ensuring alignment between security commitments, commercial strategy and risk appetite.
- Supporting the development and implementation of standardized cyber contractual frameworks, including security schedules, incident notification obligations and risk allocation provisions.
- Partnering with IT, operations and privacy teams to support incident responses, ensuring alignment between contractual commitments, regulatory requirements and operational priorities.
Digital Procurement
- Leading contract negotiations opposite major technology vendors including Microsoft, Oracle, ServiceNow, Salesforce, AWS and Google, driving consistency in contracting positions and leverage at scale.
- Partnering with procurement, technology and commercial teams to structure deals, optimize commercial outcomes, and manage risk across the contract lifecycle (including renewals, pricing, benchmarking and exit).
You'll have/be:
- A Senior technology lawyer (Extensive PQE) with deep experience supporting software, SaaS or AI-enabled products within a product-led or technology organization.
- Strong commercial instinct, with the ability to balance risk and speed, and make clear, pragmatic calls in ambiguous or fast-moving environments.
- Demonstrated experience structuring and negotiating complex technology transactions, including enterprise software, SaaS, cloud and platform deals, with a focus on driving commercial outcomes, not just risk mitigation.
- Hands on experience advising on AI and data-driven products, including regulatory, contractual and ethical considerations.
- Demonstrated experience advising on cyber security in a commercial and contractual context, including drafting and negotiating security schedules, incident notification obligations and risk allocation provisions, and supporting incident response in coordination with privacy and information security teams.
- Experience working in or closely with procurement functions, with a clear understanding of vendor strategy, pricing dynamics and contract lifecycle management.
