Our growing law firm is looking for a seasoned family law attorney who is interested in standing out from the crowd and assisting the growth of the family law practice area. We are looking for a person who is dedicated to outstanding client service and communication while also participating in the growth of the business. This unique individual will also be interested in mentoring younger attorney(s) in family law and will be compensated for this time dedication.

A successful applicant will be able to demonstrate (1) a willingness to teach and assist younger attorneys with motions, filings, and communications with clients while building their own client caseload, (2) the ability to maintain a reasonable caseload with at least 1200 billable hours per year (either to clients or the firm depending on duties), (3) compassion and passion in helping and assisting clients throughout the pendency of the case, and (4) interest in growing with the firm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent clients in family law cases, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and property division matters.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze case law, and develop legal strategies.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, orders and briefs.
  • Advocate for clients in court, negotiations, and mediation proceedings.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients, addressing their concerns and questions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff within the firm.
  • Perform other legal duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Virginia State Bar member in good standing.
  • 4+ years of experience in family law.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commitment to client advocacy and achieving favorable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a high caseload and meet deadlines.
