Description:
The Apex Law Group is a boutique business and nonprofit law firm in the heart of Seattle. For over a decade, we've helped entrepreneurs, mission-driven companies, and nonprofit organizations build and grow — from entity formation through the full business lifecycle — with a particular focus on nonprofits, social enterprises, and Social Purpose Corporations. We are looking for an experienced Senior Associate Attorney who wants to own client relationships and matters from intake through resolution, keep files moving without being reminded, identify issues before they become problems, mentor junior attorneys, and grow their own practice.
This attorney will focus on nonprofit, business, and intellectual property work — entity formation, governance and compliance, contracts, mergers & acquisitions, employer-side employment issues, general business counsel, and trademark and brand protection. Apex also has growing real estate, escrow, estate planning, and HOA practices, and there's room to lead or pick up matters in any of those areas if it's of interest.
What You Would Do
- Serve as lead or co-counsel on nonprofit, business, and intellectual property matters.
- Manage client relationships directly, communicating complex legal issues in clear, organized terms.
- Mentor and review the work of junior associates and paralegals.
- Meet an annual billable requirement of 1,200 hours.
- Take initiative on client development and help grow the firm's client base.
What we are looking for:
- 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney.
- A J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admitted to the Washington State Bar and in good standing.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior attorneys.
We are a work-life balanced, family-focused firm that takes its work seriously because our clients — community-based businesses and nonprofits — are working hard to make our communities better. We invest in the professional development of our attorneys, expecting people to grow into greater judgment, responsibility, and client ownership over time, while escalating legal questions and unusual risks appropriately.
Because we prioritize work-life balance, our billable requirements and starting salaries run lower than you'd find at a larger firm — but our bonus structure is nearly uncapped, so a motivated attorney has real room to grow their total pay.
For someone who succeeds in this role, there is significant opportunity to grow into a leadership position, help expand our emerging practice areas, and mentor the next generation of Apex attorneys.
