The Senior Managing Associate serves as a key legal leader within the firm. Working closely with the leadership team, you will oversee legal strategy, mentor associate attorneys and legal staff, ensure the highest quality legal work, and help maintain the firm's reputation for excellence.
This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys practicing law while also developing people and improving systems.
The ideal candidate has substantial experience in:
- Family-Based Immigration (USCIS and consular cases)
- Humanitarian Relief (VAWA, U Visas, T Visas, SIJS, Asylum)
- Removal Defense
- Conduct client consultations
- Review legal work prepared by attorneys and legal staff across all practice areas
- Develop legal strategy for complex family-based, humanitarian, and removal defense matters
- Ensure all cases are prepared and filed accurately and on time, meeting both internal and external deadlines
- Maintain exceptional legal quality and consistency throughout the firm
- Lead weekly legal strategy meetings
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and coaching to attorneys and legal staff
- Identify opportunities to improve legal templates, workflows, case preparation, and internal training materials
- Collaborate with firm leadership to strengthen legal operations and improve efficiencies
- Supervise associate attorneys and legal support staff to ensure high-quality legal work
- Review filings and supporting evidence before submission
- Monitor case progress to identify issues early and proactively resolve them
- Ensure compliance with firm policies, legal standards, and best practices
- Develop training materials and provide ongoing legal education to the team
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and supportive work environment
- Serve as a resource for attorneys seeking guidance on legal strategy and complex case issues
- Address complex client concerns with professionalism and empathy
- Ensure proactive communication throughout each client's case
- Maintain the firm's client communication standards
- Support timely responses to client inquiries
- Foster trust and confidence through excellent client service
- Mentor junior attorneys and legal staff
- Conduct legal training and case review sessions
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture
- Promote accountability while encouraging professional growth
- Help develop future leaders within the firm

Required Qualifications:
- Active Bar License
- Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
- Minimum 5 years of immigration law experience in family-based immigration, humanitarian relief and removal defense.
- Minimum 3 years in a leadership, supervisory, or mentoring role
- Exceptional communication and client management abilities
