Description:
Under general supervision, performs complex and specialized transactional legal work necessary for the advising and counseling of clients.Examples of Duties:
- Serves as a legal specialist for an assigned major department, group of departments, or department which functions present specialized legal problems; and/or serves as legal advisor and counsel for the A Government Entity agencies, officials and personnel on non-litigation issues.
- Conducts legal research, analysis and/or evaluation of issues of substantial complexity and/or which may have significant implications for the establishment of legal precedent.
- Drafts, reviews, and negotiates complex contracts, pre-bid contracts, pre-bid documents and other legal documentation related to the provision of goods and services to the A Government Entity.
- Conducts negotiations, business transactions and other projects requiring demonstrated and specialized expertise.
- Confers with supervisors, clients, and team members on as required.
- Drafts legal opinions and/or legal interpretations of laws, rules, regulations and other documents as required.
- Prepares responses to inquiries from other municipalities, private law firms, and the state and federal government.
- Serves as a leadsperson for other attorneys, when required.
- Performs special projects at the direction of superiors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate degree from an American Bar Association approved institution.
- Minimum of (3) three years of experience in the practice of law or related experience.
