General Purpose:
Commerce City is seeking a strategic and solutions-oriented attorney to serve as a Senior Assistant City Attorney within our growing City Attorney's Office. This role focuses on employment law and municipal transactional matters, advising City leadership on complex legal issues that shape policy, operations, and community impact. The selected candidate will collaborate across departments to deliver practical, risk-aware guidance while advancing high-priority initiatives in a dynamic, evolving organization.

In this role, you will draft and review ordinances, contracts, and policies; provide counsel on employment matters, compliance, and risk mitigation; conduct legal research on emerging issues; and support strategic partners in navigating complex operational and strategic decisions. This position offers the opportunity to influence citywide initiatives, partner closely with the executive team, and contribute meaningfully to Commerce City's continued growth and innovation.

Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.

Hiring range is $146,808.00- $163,120.00 Annually

Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado within 60 days of hire. At least five years' experience as a practicing attorney is required; eight years' experience including work for municipal government or work in a required field of specialty is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Must possess a valid driver's license or be able to arrange for timely transportation to alternate work locations.
