Description:
About the role:You'll handle a wide variety of entertainment, intellectual property, and business matters, including copyright, trademark, licensing, contract negotiations, business transactions, and commercial disputes. Our practice also includes state and federal litigation, with opportunities to work on high-profile cases involving emerging legal issues in entertainment, technology, and artificial intelligence.
This is a diverse entertainment law role with a strong emphasis on transactional work, intellectual property, and business law. You'll draft and negotiate agreements, advise clients on legal risks, protect intellectual property rights, and work to resolve disputes informally before litigation becomes necessary. Depending on your experience, you'll also have opportunities to participate in litigation involving copyright infringement, trademark and trade dress infringement, breach of contract, shareholder disputes, breach of fiduciary duty, and other commercial disputes.
You'll collaborate closely with our team to develop practical legal strategies that protect our clients' interests while minimizing unnecessary costs and business disruption.
What You'll Bring:
- At least 5 years of experience practicing entertainment law (REQUIRED);
- Continued active admission in good standing in at least one U.S. state (or the District of Columbia) bar;
- Experience with intellectual property law (REQUIRED), including copyright, trademark, licensing, and/or other intellectual property matters;
- Experience with business and commercial law (REQUIRED), including business transactions, contract drafting, negotiations, and advising clients on business-related legal issues;
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating business, intellectual property, and entertainment-related agreements (watch Top Music Attorney on YouTube to learn more about our role in this area);
- Litigation experience is a plus, particularly in intellectual property and commercial disputes, including experience drafting substantive motions (e.g., motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and discovery motions); and
- Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and analytical skills, with the ability to independently manage matters, develop legal strategies, and efficiently manage time and firm resources.
- People Matter. You'll love being here because of the people, the opportunities to learn, and our commitment to professional development. We take the work seriously but not ourselves. We value creativity and a strong sense of humor.
- Plenty of Opportunities for Personal and Professional Growth. You'll work alongside some of the top entertainment attorneys in the nation, which will help you grow as an attorney and as a person.
- Ownership, Kindness, and Unimpeachable Character are Firm-Wide Essentials. The buck stops with each of us. We take accountability seriously, support one another, and strive for excellence in everything we do. Our clients' interests are paramount.
- We're remote and flexible, but highly connected. Between daily check-ins, strategy huddles, and virtual watercooler conversations, you'll probably see your coworkers more than your neighbors. You'll have extreme flexibility over where and when the work gets done, as long as it gets done well and on time.
Perks:
- Competitive compensation based on experience;
- 401(k) matching and paid time off for full-time employees;
