Primary Duties & Responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:
  • Acting COUNSEL for A Petroleum Company and its various subsidiaries, and being a key team member including direction and oversight of the legal department.
  • Must be qualified to become an issuing agent for a title insurance company.
  • In addition, duties include preparation, oversight and delegation in the preparation of documents for real estate title insurance policies, researching and preparing legal documents, including preparation of deeds and other documents necessary to complete real estate transactions, both residential and commercial, in the State of Georgia; oversight of department coordination with banking institutions in gathering information necessary to close real estate transactions; preparation and maintenance of legal files.
  • Also, selection of, communication with, and coordination with closing attorneys in other States for purchases and sales of out-of-state properties.
  • Duties include preparation of contracts, performance of due diligence activities, and closings for purchase and sale of both real estate and non-real estate property.
  • Duties include preparation of documents and closing of loans secured by real estate and personal property.

In addition direction over support staff that would include ensuring pulling of court documents from dockets; filing of legal documents and court papers with various courts and online court systems; reviewing and calendaring of requests for assistance from other departments, and evaluation of the need for departmental involvement in matters; serving as communication liaison between the department and outside attorneys, courts and employees in other departments; performing of research of real estate filings and records maintained online with the Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority; maintenance of records on the status and deadlines associated with cases and real estate transactions being undertaken; tracking of case statuses; maintenance and organization of files for the department; preparation of a variety of correspondence; responding to inquiries received from other departments; coordination of the payment process for outside attorney services utilized by the department; may provide guidance or training to less experienced team members including paralegals, legal assistants, or other staff; performance of other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Must be LICENSED by and in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
