Current Need:A Medical Supplies, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Solutions Company well-regarded General Counsel Organization is seeking an experienced healthcare transactional lawyer to support the A Medical Supplies, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Solutions Company Health Systems (MHS) customer segment of A Medical Supplies, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Solutions Company Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services business unit. A Medical Supplies, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Solutions Company MHS segment helps provide drug distribution and related services to hospitals, health systems, integrated delivery networks, and specialty pharmacies through A Medical Supplies, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Solutions Company Corporation (US Pharma) and A Medical Supplies, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Solutions Company Plasma and Biologics LLC.
This position requires a keen understanding of the ever-changing business, legal, and healthcare regulatory environment relevant to McKesson's distribution business. Position Description:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day legal support for the MHS customer segment including legal support for customer and group purchasing organization contracting and dispute resolution;
- Manage contract specialist support for the team;
- Support requests for proposals and marketing initiatives;
- Provide health care regulatory advice and education on issues related to supply agreements and other arrangements between distributors and customers, group purchasing organizations, drug manufacturers, and other healthcare service companies;
- Serve as a legal advisor to business unit leadership on a wide array of topics relating to segment needs, including legal risk mitigation, customer management, strategic initiatives and compliance programs;
- Coordinate with other attorneys and compliance partners in the McKesson General Counsel Organization on privacy, litigation, labor and employment, IP, regulatory compliance, and other matters arising at MHS; and
- Maintain frequent interactions with other internal stakeholders across functional groups.
Critical Skills:
- Excellent legal analysis and risk assessment skills, and ability to communicate complicated legal considerations to both business and other legal stakeholders
- High comfort providing health care regulatory advice (anti-kickback and illegal remuneration laws, FCA, privacy, 340B, government contracting, antitrust), preference for experience in the hospital or specialty pharmacy space and/or negotiating commercial contracts with hospitals. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to provide sound, clear legal advice to all levels within the company, including senior business executives in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work closely with, facilitate interactions within, and influence large cross-functional teams (including attorneys from other areas of the General Counsel Organization, regulatory and compliance professionals, and business operations managers).
- Must be a team player who can develop strong working relationships and work collaboratively with internal clients and other members of the legal team. Ability to lead by example including a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and undertake day-to-day legal work.
- Law firm experience, combined with in-house experience with healthcare organizations, preferred
- Emerging leadership experience with a strong desire to develop and manage a team of high-functioning legal professionals
Minimum Requirements:
7+ years of healthcare regulatory and corporate law experience
Education:
Juris Doctor Degree with excellent academic credentials. Member of a jurisdiction is required.
