Description:Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick seeks a real estate associate with at least four years of commercial experience to handle sophisticated, challenging real estate matters for clients in Florida and nationwide. This position may be based in our Tampa or St. Petersburg office.
The role will focus on negotiating and drafting commercial real estate documents, including (but not limited to) purchase agreements, commercial leases, easements, and land use documents. Candidates should have experience conducting real estate due diligence, including title insurance examination and issuance, title survey, and zoning review. Familiarity with financing and experience in real estate matters is required. Candidates must be admitted in good standing to the Florida Bar.
Where You'll Work
This position can sit in the Tampa or St. Petersburg offices.
What You'll Do:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial leases, purchase and sale agreements, and other related deal documents, in line with client expectations and closing timelines
- Interface with deal counsel and clients to obtain required documentation
- Review and negotiate financing agreements with lenders
- Research legal matters as needed, including but not limited to corporate and real estate law
What We're Looking For:
We are looking for candidates who take a proactive approach and ownership of their work. Candidates must have a strong commitment to client service and a desire to develop and grow their transactional skills by working alongside exceptional attorneys.
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar
- Minimum 4 years of commercial real estate law experience
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills including a strong aptitude for managing and prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines
- Comfortable handling the lifecycle of commercial real estate transactions with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with a variety of attorneys, paralegals, and staff, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality

Physical Requirements:
- Sitting frequently, approximately six out of eight hours per day. Sitting position static for up to one-half hour at a time.
