Summary/Overview:
A Credit Rating Services Company is seeking an experienced Attorney to join our Ratings Legal team, in support of our Funds and ABS units. Position can be based in New York or Chicago.

About the Team:
The Attorneys on the Ratings Legal team, work alongside our ratings analysts in the groups they support to identify, evaluate, and articulate key legal and credit features and risks in structures. As integral members of the credit ratings groups, they also engage in investor outreach, contribute to research reports and methodology reviews, and share their knowledge of relevant market and legal developments. Ultimately, the attorneys in Ratings Legal serve as an important safeguard for ensuring the quality, accuracy, timeliness and consistency of KBRA's ratings.

Job Responsibilities:
You will work with KBRA's structured finance and/or investment funds groups on a wide range of debt transactions. Key responsibilities will include:
  • Reviewing financing documents and relevant asset-level documents
  • Identifying the potential credit impact of transaction structures and deal documents
  • Coordinating with rating analysts on relevant legal issues
  • Participating in due diligence meetings
  • Participating in rating committees
  • Supporting the analytical team with the preparation of KBRA's market-leading rating and research reports

Key Job Qualifications:
You are extremely motivated, and able to effectively multi-task and to work independently and alongside other members of the ratings group you support.

To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Structured Finance and/or Fund Finance, ideally with experience in Fund Finance, Fund Investment, Consumer ABS, Esoteric ABS, and/or CLOs.
  • JD and Bar admission in the United States is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent research, analytical and organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as to collaborate with others in a collegial environment.
  • Skilled at working on multiple transactions simultaneously in an organized fashion and able to meet deadlines.
