Description and Requirements
The Privacy Counsel, North America will work in the A Computer Manufacturing Company Legal Department's Privacy & Data Protection Team and will report to the Global Privacy Leader. With a focus on North America region (United States and Canada), provide advice and counsel to A Computer Manufacturing Company business teams, security partners, and other groups and functions responsible for ensuring the responsible use and protection of customer, consumer, user and employee personal data and other information of concern.

What You'll Do:
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on privacy and data protection legal, regulatory and policy developments and advise on requirements and standards that may affect A Computer Manufacturing Company , its business functions, customer relationships, and its supply chain in North America and beyond.
  • Lead and/or support important projects to design and execute A Computer Manufacturing Company's privacy and data protection policies and data governance strategies to meet global legal requirements, industry standards, and customer requirements, especially in the areas of emerging technologies, products, and services.
  • Provide advice and counsel on privacy and data protection incident investigations and response and mitigation workstreams in partnership with A Computer Manufacturing Company's security teams and other stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and counsel for customer, supplier, and partner agreements.
  • Design and execute privacy and data protection education and awareness training and resources for the Legal Department and A Computer Manufacturing Company community at large.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies (KSAC's):
  • The successful candidate will work closely and direct support a range of stakeholders internally including, but not limited to, other legal department groups; information, product, and physical security teams; product development; marketing and sales; customer service; information technology; human resources; and supply chain and procurement.
  • The successful candidate may also work with external parties to the extent necessary, including outside counsel, customers, suppliers, and law enforcement and government agencies.
  • The successful candidate will need to have effective written and verbal skills, and experience in communicating complex issues to business teams and senior leaders; as well as an ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and diverse organization.
  • The successful candidate will need to have strong analytical skills and will need to solve a multitude of very complex legal, regulatory, compliance, and strategic problems daily.

Basic Job Requirements:
  • At least 8 years of direct experience in privacy and/or data protection law, preferably within a global multinational and customer-focused company.
  • Project Management experience

Preferred Job Requirements:
Combination of law firm and private industry experience

Educational requirements:
  • JD from accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States.

Travel Requirements:
10% travel expected

We are open to this role being filled in Morrisville, NC or Chicago, IL
In either location, our hybrid work policy of 3:2 would be required. Remote is not an option.
