Position Summary:
Manage a caseload of personal injury matters from intake through pre-suit resolution, including client communication, claim evaluation, legal research, demand preparation, insurance negotiations, and settlement coordination. The Pre-Litigation Associate Attorney is responsible for advancing cases efficiently while maintaining high standards of advocacy, organization, and client service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of personal injury prelitigation matters from intake through settlement or transition to litigation.
  • Consult with clients to understand the facts, needs, and merits of each case and provide regular case updates.
  • Evaluate claims and develop case strategy using applicable statutes, case law, medical documentation, and other relevant information.
  • Draft letters of representation, insurance notices, settlement demands, and other legal correspondence.
  • Negotiate with insurance adjusters and carriers to pursue favorable resolutions for clients.
  • Monitor case progress, settlement disbursements, and other key deadlines and developments.
  • Collaborate with supervising attorneys and team members regarding significant case developments and matters requiring escalation.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential case records in the firm's case management system.
  • Stay current on developments in Massachusetts personal injury law relevant to prelitigation practice.
  • Deliver excellent client service through clear, responsive, and professional communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Massachusetts.
  • 0–3 years of experience in prelitigation, personal injury, or a related legal practice area.
  • Demonstrated interest in representing injured clients and developing a career in personal injury law.

Preferred Qualifications (optional)

  • Prior plaintiff-side personal injury or prelitigation experience.
  • Experience drafting settlement demands and negotiating bodily injury claims with insurance carriers.
  • Familiarity with medical records, damages evaluation, insurance coverage, and personal injury claim development.
  • Experience with case management and legal research platforms.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Hybrid, full-time role in a busy legal office environment.
  • Must be able to sit and work at a computer for extended periods and review case files as needed.
