The Job:
This position is for a pre-litigation attorney who will work directly under our Director of Pre-Litigation, Nicole Greene. The job has a caseload of roughly 80-100 cases. A pre-litigation attorney's primary job is to manage case files in the pre-litigation phases. This includes overseeing a team of 4 staff--two paralegals and two legal assistants--that are assigned to each pre-lit attorney. You will be working cases up using "the CGH Method" which involves significant medical management oversight to ensure that we are getting policy limits in 80+% of cases. Most of our cases are signed by our Intake Specialist but occasionally you may be meeting with new prospective clients if they want to speak to a lawyer before signing. You will also be editing demand letters, providing guidance to staff, answering client questions, and generally being fully up to speed on all cases at all times.

This position does NOT involve any litigation as we have a separate department for that. If you are interested in litigation, we would be open to transferring you to that department a few years down the road. But our preferred applicant would be someone interested in PI outside of the litigation context.

This position will generally work 40 hours per week with some small exceptions throughout the year. We prioritize work/life balance.

General Info:
The pay for this position depends on experience. Those without experience can expect a $100,000 salary while those with several years of experience can expect up to $150,000 in salary. Regardless of experience, every lawyer at CGH gets a discretionary slice of a bonus pool made up of 10% of the firm's total profit as an annual bonus at the end of the year. The bonus pro-rated for those starting later than Jan 1. We also provide origination bonuses (20% of fee) and google bonuses (roughly $500 per year).

The position includes health insurance through Kaiser with a low deductible and 100% of premiums paid by the Firm, we also offer vision and dental insurance with 100% of premiums paid by the Firm, a 401k plan with a 4% matching contribution from the firm, 12 weeks maternity/paternity leave with full pay and an optional addition 4 weeks with 50% pay, firm paid life insurance and long term disability insurance, $150/quarter firm wellness reimbursement, unlimited paid vacation, and unlimited sick days.

The Firm:
The firm is both energetic and laid back. We don't have a dress code. We don't talk to each other super formally. We swear in the office. This is not your typical stuffy law office. We believe in a team-oriented approach where we help each other succeed and where clients come first. We believe that happy employees are the most productive employees. We believe that setting high goals, giving people the training and technology they need to succeed, and explaining why we do things the way we do gets our firm and our clients the best results. But with that comes high expectations. We expect you will do your job well. We expect you will be a team player. We expect you will mesh into the firm culture.

Our firm mission is to deliver more than money to people injured through no fault of their own. We fight, inside and outside the courtroom, for a safer and more just world. We accomplish our mission by focusing on our clients' emotional needs, treating everyone as equals, and ensuring we are all accountable.

Our core values are (1) we have integrity; (2) we have compassion for our clients; (3) we communicate well with our clients, opposing counsel, and each other; and (4) we take cases to trial. We live out those core values every single day and they are the driving force behind all of our decision-making.
