Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Criminal or Family Law Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various areas of Family and Criminal law, including but not limited motions, court appearances, hearings and trials. This role requires excellent negotiation skills, legal research capabilities, and the ability to draft legal documents effectively. Additionally some litigation skills are preferred. The Attorney will work closely with clients to provide sound legal advice and representation while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

Provide legal counsel in areas such criminal law and family law.
Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis to support case preparation and strategy.
Draft legal documents including contracts, pleadings, motions, and briefs with precision and clarity.
Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
Represent clients in litigation proceedings and administrative hearings.
Maintain organized case files and documentation within the law office.
Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to ensure comprehensive client service.
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to practice areas.

Requirements:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in New York State.
Proven experience in one or more of the following areas: Criminal or Family law.
Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful outcomes.
Excellent writing skills for legal drafting and documentation.
Proficient in legal research methodologies using platforms like LexisNexis.
Prior experience in a legal administrative role is preferred but not mandatory.
Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective client communication and relationship building.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: Up to $150.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 25 per week
