- Intellectual property transactions/agreements.
Qualifications:
Experience and Education – What you'll bring to the table!
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) from a reputable institution and a strong background in quantitative genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, breeding or in a related bioinformatics computer science discipline.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school in the U.S., admission to at least one State Bar in good standing and Registered to Practice before the USPTO.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in drafting and/or prosecuting patent applications as a Registered U.S. Patent Attorney, preferably in a law firm.
- Capable of analyzing patent landscape and advising clients on FTO and patentability considerations for complex technologies.
- Experience working with foreign associates to assist and coordinate filing and prosecution of international patent matters.
- Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal direction.
- Ability to maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or work environment and to facilitate implementation and acceptance of change within the workplace.
- Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to prioritize projects and meet aggressive deadlines.
- Superior communication, influencing and networking skills.
- Outstanding writing skills as demonstrated by original writing samples of patent applications, prosecution submissions, memorandums, and other communications.
- Post-graduate R&D laboratory experience for 2 or more years.
- In-house legal department experience.
- Experience with independently prosecuting large patent dockets.
- Experience with developing and implementing IP strategies and IP portfolio analyses.
- Leading and negotiating IP transactions/agreements.
