Position Overview: Legal for Good, a woman-owned law firm founded in 2010 that focuses on advising nonprofit organizations, is seeking a highly skilled Associate Attorney with knowledge of nonprofit law to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive legal support to our new and existing nonprofit clients and will help manage a team of support professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise and assist nonprofit organizations with legal matters from incorporation through dissolution.
  • Provide guidance on nonprofit governance issues, tax-exempt status, and other nonprofit-business and tax related matters, acting as a key resource for nonprofit organizations, their boards of directors, and their key staff.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, including mergers, asset transfers, simple and complex contracts, and policies/procedures tailored to the unique needs of each nonprofit organization.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and provide detailed legal opinions and advice.
  • Help lead a team of support professionals.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Minnesota state bar.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience specifically in nonprofit business and tax law, with a preference for 3-5 years overall attorney experience.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota employment laws and regulations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and protection laws is a plus.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide clear, effective, and pragmatic advice and guidance.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
