Gfeller Laurie LLP is seeking an associate attorney with 3+ years of civil defense litigation experience to join its Healthcare and Professional Liability practice group in West Hartford, Connecticut. This is an opportunity to build sophisticated medical malpractice defense experience alongside two of Connecticut's premier medical malpractice defense trial attorneys, while contributing to Department of Public Health investigations, pre-suit claims, risk management matters, and active litigation.

Associates in this practice group are valued contributors with meaningful responsibility in day-to-day case management, client reporting, written discovery, fact and expert depositions, court appearances, trial preparation, and trials. They work closely with civil litigation partners and should be comfortable applying Connecticut practice rules and procedures. Strong analytical, organizational, research,and writing skills, along witha genuine interest in medical malpractice defense and medical and scientific issues, are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage a caseload of medical malpractice defense and healthcare professional liability matters from inception through resolution
Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and discovery
Take and defend depositions
Attend court conferences, hearings, and mediations
Collaborate with partners and clients to develop case strategy
Maintain strong client communication and deliver high-quality legal work
