Description:
Position Summary:Kelly & Grossman LLP is seeking a Managing Attorney to lead our personal injury and medical malpractice litigation team. This role combines an active caseload with day-to-day management of attorneys and support staff, and is responsible for the team's overall performance, case strategy, and client outcomes. This is a full-time, in-office position in New York; it is not available as a remote or hybrid role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff handling personal injury and medical malpractice matters
- Oversee case assignments, workload distribution, and team performance
- Maintain and manage an active caseload from intake through trial or settlement
- Set litigation strategy and provide case guidance and oversight on complex or high-value matters
- Review pleadings, motions, and settlement demands prepared by the team
- Build and maintain client relationships, including handling escalations
- Appear in court for conferences, motions, and trials as needed
- Track team deadlines, deliverables, and case metrics using Clio and firm systems
- Participate in hiring, training, and performance reviews for the litigation team
Qualifications:
Required:
- J.D. and active license to practice law in New York State, in good standing
- Significant experience litigating personal injury and/or medical malpractice matters, including trial experience
- Proven ability to manage, supervise, and develop a team of attorneys and support staff
- Strong working knowledge of New York civil litigation procedure and court rules
- Excellent organizational, communication, and client-relationship skills
Preferred:
- Prior experience in a supervisory or managing attorney role
- Experience with Clio practice management software
- Familiarity with New York Surrogate's Court procedures (e.g., wrongful death estates)
