Overview:
Hogan Smith Law is establishing of counsel relationships with attorneys in every state who are admitted in their state's U.S. District Courts to serve as local of-counsel.

Admission in multiple districts within a state is a significant plus.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as counsel of record on firm appeals in your admitted district(s)
  • Review the administrative record and independently assess each appeal's merits
  • Review, revise, and file filings.
  • File complaints, IFP applications, briefs, and motions via CM/ECF
  • Monitor dockets and respond to court notices and scheduling orders
  • Comply with local rules, standing orders, and district requirements on drafting assistance

Support We Provide
  • Client intake and ongoing client communication support
  • Administrative record assembly and issue identification
  • Draft complaints, opening briefs, and reply briefs for your review and revision
  • Circuit-specific legal research (Fifth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuits)
  • Docket monitoring and deadline calendaring
  • Full paralegal and administrative support
  • If an in-person hearing is ordered, our office will come in pro-hac vice.

Requirements:
  • Active bar license in good standing no disciplinary history
  • Admitted to at least one U.S. District Court in that state, with active CM/ECF credentials
  • Capacity to substantively review filings and respond to deadlines promptly

Compensation:
Compensation is dependent on caseload in your state and individual circumstances but may either be a per case or a monthly retainer.
