Description:

An American Vehicle for Hire Company is using technology to transform transportation around the world. From changing a single person's daily commute to reducing humanity's collective environmental footprint — we've got huge goals.

As Litigation and Regulatory Counsel, you will play a critical role in protecting and guiding our rapidly growing business. You will be a key member of our dynamic legal team, responsible for a diverse portfolio of litigation matters (including commercial, privacy and intellectual property disputes) and providing sharp, actionable advice on complex regulatory questions. This is a unique opportunity to work cross-functionally with teams at the intersection of technology, transportation, and law, helping to shape the legal framework for the future of mobility. You will be a true generalist, with a primary focus on litigation and dispute resolution, but with the intellectual curiosity to tackle novel regulatory challenges.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage all phases of litigation, including commercial disputes, auto liability claims, cutting-edge patent litigation and other matters. This includes developing case strategy, overseeing discovery, drafting motions and pleadings, and managing outside counsel.
  • Represent the company in pre-litigation mediations and arbitrations to achieve favorable resolutions.
  • Develop internal processes, policies, and tools to support insurance-backed litigation and regulatory matters efficiently and at scale.
  • Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to our Operations, Partnerships, and Product teams on a wide range of regulatory and compliance issues at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Conduct thorough and efficient legal research and analysis on novel questions of law arising from our innovative business models.
  • Monitor new legislation and regulations that could impact our operations and advise the business on potential impacts.
  • Support the Legal team in a variety of other areas, including responding to third-party subpoenas and requests for information.

Who You Are:
  • You have a J.D. from a top-tier, accredited law school and are admitted to the bar and in good standing in at least one U.S. state (New York preferred).
  • 4+ years minimum of relevant legal experience, including significant litigation work at a leading law firm, in a sophisticated in-house legal department, or with a government agency.
  • Impeccable written and oral communication skills; you can distill complex legal concepts into clear, concise advice for a non-legal audience.
  • A proven ability to think strategically, solve problems, and exercise sound legal and business judgment.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to independently manage multiple high-stakes projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative, team-first attitude with a passion for our mission.

What Catches Our Eye

  • Direct experience in the transportation, mobility, or technology sectors.
  • Experience with employment, labor relations, insurance defense, securities regulation and compliance, or complex commercial litigation preferred but not required.
  • Prior in-house experience at a high-growth technology company.
