Looking for an energetic, motivated, and enthusiastic licensed trial attorney to join our litigation team at a small AV® rated insurance defense firm practicing in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. Qualifications: A valid license to practice law w/1+ years of litigation experience. New graduates with the right qualification may be considered as well. Effective communication skills, strong writing and verbal skills, proficient understanding of legal concepts, terminology, and legal procedures, as well as excellent work ethic. Must be eager and willing to learn, have good technical abilities, people skills, attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills, critical thinking skills, ability to evaluate options and implement solutions, and possess a positive, friendly attitude. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, manage time and complete tasks in a timely manner, prioritize tasks, take initiative to solve problems, and operate efficiently in a fast-paced litigation, deadline-oriented environment.

Duties: Include, among other things:
  • Analyzing the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents to develop trial strategy.
  • Advising clients concerning claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
  • Researching legal issues and drafting correspondence, pleadings, subpoenas, motions, discovery & other legal documents.
  • Conducting pre-trial discovery.
  • Drafting pleadings, discovery requests, motions, etc.
  • Appearing in court, conducting depositions and questioning witnesses.
  • Preparing for trial including preparing witnesses, preparing exhibits, drafting pre-trial; motions, and organization of trial materials.
  • Managing the development and organization of large document production.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • While not necessary, marketing and client development is highly recommended.
