Role DescriptionWe are seeking a Litigation Associate with 4+ years of litigation experience to join our California Litigation Practice Group. This role is ideal for a litigator with a strong background in medical malpractice defense and experience handling complex litigation matters in both state and federal court.
This is a hybrid position with the flexibility to work from any of our Southern California offices, including Los Angeles, San Diego, or Irvine.
What You'll Do:
- Manage all phases of complex medical malpractice and healthcare litigation matters in both state and federal court, including pleadings, motion practice, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Defend healthcare providers, hospitals, physicians, and long-term care facilities in medical malpractice, elder abuse, and catastrophic injury matters.
- Take and defend fact and expert witness depositions and manage written discovery.
- Draft and argue substantive motions, including Motions for Summary Judgment and Summary Adjudication.
- Participate in client meetings, hearings, mediations, and litigation-related proceedings throughout California.
- Collaborate closely with partners, clients, experts, and insurance carriers on high-exposure healthcare litigation matters.
What We're Looking For:
- 4+ years of litigation experience with a background in medical malpractice, long-term care, elder abuse, and/or catastrophic injury defense
- Active California bar admission required; federal court admissions in the Central and Southern Districts of California preferred
- Experience taking and defending depositions, experience taking expert depositions preferred
- Experience with trial preparation and/or second-chair trial responsibilities, preferred
- Exceptional writing, analytical, and verbal communications skills
