Description:

Ballard Spahr LLP is seeking a highly qualified junior associate to join our Retail & E-Commerce litigation team in our San Francisco office. Since opening in February, the San Francisco office has more than doubled in size, with lawyers joining from many of the country's leading law firms. Strong and growing client demand is creating opportunities to continue expanding our team at all levels.

Our Retail & E-Commerce team has a nationally recognized practice representing leading retailers and other consumer-facing companies in class actions and other complex litigation nationwide. Our matters involve a broad range of evolving legal issues affecting the retail industry, including advertising and marketing, pricing and promotions, privacy, emerging technologies, and more.

The ideal candidate will have 1–4 years of litigation experience, strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, and an interest in developing a practice focused on the retail and consumer industries. Prior retail, class action, or consumer litigation experience is preferred but not required. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong litigation fundamentals who are intellectually curious, eager to take on substantive responsibility, and interested in developing expertise in emerging legal issues affecting retailers.

The position offers an opportunity to work closely with senior lawyers on sophisticated matters for major national clients, gain meaningful experience across all stages of litigation, and develop a substantive practice within a nationally recognized team. The associate will also have the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the firm's San Francisco office and California practice.

Candidates should have strong academic credentials, sound judgment, and exceptional attention to detail. An active California bar license is required.
