Description:

The Litigation group at Klaris is seeking an exceptional associate (2nd–3rd year) to join our 20-lawyer media and intellectual property boutique in New York City. This is a hands-on role for a confident, driven litigator who thrives on responsibility, plugs in quickly, and takes ownership of matters from day one.

The attorney will support a diverse docket of contested matters alongside meaningful pre-publication and pre-broadcast clearance work. The role offers a rare opportunity to engage deeply with cutting-edge copyright, First Amendment, and newsgathering litigation, as well as commercial disputes at the heart of the media business. This is not a back-office role—the attorney will be given significant responsibility, working directly with clients, being proactive and strategic.

Responsibilities:
  • Take an active role in supporting litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Handle federal and state court proceedings, as well as arbitrations
  • Conduct sophisticated legal research and draft dispositive motions, briefs, and other advocacy-driven submissions
  • Manage discovery end-to-end, including strategy, document review, depositions, and motion practice
  • Participate in oral arguments and court appearances
  • Collaborate closely with partners and clients to develop and execute case strategy
  • Juggle multiple fast-moving matters

Lawyer Profile:
  • A sharp, detail-oriented litigator with a strong record of high-quality research and writing
  • A lawyer who takes initiative, manages workflows, and sees matters through without waiting to be asked
  • A collaborative person who naturally contributes to a positive team culture
  • An attorney who thrives in fast-paced, high-stakes environments and is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and dig in
  • A person actively engaged in culture, the media, and the arts with demonstrated interest in creative industries
  • Clerkship experience is a plus

Compensation: $145,000-160,000 plus bonus and full, competitive benefits package
