Overview:We are seeking a talented Litigation Associate to join our legal team, especially those with experience in business litigation and trust and estate litigation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for law and a strong background in legal research, writing, and litigation. Part-time work is being offered to accommodate those who want fewer hours because of child care responsibilities or lifestyle preferences. Position may evolve into full-time (with higher pay) if candidate wishes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related materials
- Assist with case preparation and management
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and courts
- Participate in negotiations and settlement discussions
- Attend court hearings and conduct depositions
- Provide general support to senior attorneys in litigation matters
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the California State Bar
- Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
- Some experience with depositions or trials
- Ability to litigate cases effectively and without much supervision
- Proficiency in Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw for research purposes
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
