Description:
The Role:We are hiring an associate to manage a litigation caseload from intake through resolution. This is not a support role for a partner. You will develop case strategy, take and defend depositions, argue motions, lead mediations and negotiations, and try cases. Your team here will support you. You will also provide general counsel advice to business clients and get involved in contract drafting as needed.
What you will do:
- Manage your own caseload of construction, real estate, and business matters from start to finish.
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts.
- Take and defend depositions, and handle trials and appeals as needed.
- Lead negotiations and mediations for clients.
- Provide ongoing general counsel advice to business clients.
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and support staff.
- Write one article or blog post per quarter and attend one networking event per quarter.
Our Expectations:
The billable requirement is 145 collected hours per month. We also track a short list of performance metrics quarterly, including utilization, case outcomes, client responsiveness (24 to 48 hours), and others. If you want to know exactly how you are measured and prefer that to guessing, you will do well here.
What You Need:
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active Colorado law license in good standing.
- Five or more years of civil litigation experience.
- Experience in construction, real estate, or business law (preferred).
- Deposition experience preferred; trial experience preferred.
- Strong writing. You should be able to explain a complex issue to a client in plain English.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and case management software.
