Zimmerman Law P.C. is a growing litigation-focused law firm located near the Walt Whitman Mall in Huntington Station, New York. We handle a broad range of civil litigation matters in New York State and federal courts, including matrimonial litigation, real property disputes, commercial litigation, collections, personal injury, and related matters.We are seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney who enjoys persuasive writing, legal research, case analysis, and litigation strategy. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants meaningful responsibility, hands-on experience, and room to grow with a busy litigation practice.
The role is primarily office-based and focused on motion practice, legal research, written advocacy, case evaluation, and litigation strategy. Depending on experience, the position may also include court appearances, conferences, depositions, hearings, trial preparation, and federal court practice.
About the role:
You will work closely with attorneys and staff on a varied litigation docket involving:
- Matrimonial Litigation
- Real Property Litigation
- Commercial Litigation
- Collections
- Personal Injury
- General Civil Litigation
- Federal Court Practice
- You will be involved in all phases of litigation, including case assessment, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, settlement strategy, trial preparation, and appeal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and analyze complex factual and legal issues
- Draft motions, memoranda of law, orders to show cause, appellate briefs, affirmations, affidavits, and other litigation documents
- Develop litigation strategies and practical solutions designed to advance client objectives
- Draft pleadings, discovery demands and responses, subpoenas, settlement correspondence, and client communications
- Review contracts, financial records, medical records, discovery materials, correspondence, and other case evidence
- Prepare for and attend conferences, depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial
- Manage case files, deadlines, litigation calendars, and assigned tasks with accuracy and accountability
Who we are looking for:
Required Qualifications:
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to draft clear, persuasive, well-organized, and strategically focused motion papers
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff
- Proficiency and comfort with legal research platforms and technology in general is a necessity.
