General Description:
Performs legal work for the Litigation department, including reviewing investigation files, analyzing evidence for potential violations of law, drafting, legal documents. In coordination with the Director of Litigation drafts settlement documents and negotiates settlement agreements. Prosecutes administrative enforcement cases at informal administrative proceedings, called Informal Settlement Conferences (ISC).
Work involves litigation practice with some legal writing and developing knowledge of rules and statues for physicians, physician assistants, medical radiological technologists, respiratory care practitioners, acupuncturists, surgical assistants and medical physicists. Files administrative violation cases at the state office of administrative hearings (SOAH), including mediation of cases that do not resolve following ISC.
Works under general direction from the Director of Litigation and lead attorneys, with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The principal job is performed in a standard office or remote environment and requires:
- All applicants must be available to work Monday-Friday during standard business hours in central time zone (CT), regardless of their physical location and have regular and punctual attendance.
- All applicants will have prolonged periods of sitting and extensive computer screen time due to computer use.
- All applicants will have frequent use of keyboard, mouse, and other input devices.
- All applicants need to have the ability to participate in video calls, phone calls, and virtual meetings.

Required Experience and Education
- Graduation from An Accredited Law School with An L.L.B. or J.D. Degree
- Licensed in Good Standing to Practice Law in Texas or Awaiting Texas Bar Exam Results
- Applicants Taking the July Texas Bar Exam and Awaiting Texas Bar Exam Results Are Eligible to Apply, Employment Will Be Contingent upon Bar Passage
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated Interest in Legal Principles and Practices of Law Related to Administrative Law and The Licensing and Regulation of Professionals, Specifically Licensees Engaged in Health Care.
- Demonstrated Interest in Healthcare Law
- Knowledge of Administrative Practice Act And/or Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.
