Description:

A Government Entity Attorney's Internship Program is an internship designed to expose law school students to a career in the legal field and local government. The goal of the program is to educate students on the many facets of the City Attorney's Office and its representation of local government. Law school students may apply to participate in a paid internship for the summer of 2024.

The paid program allows law school students to earn an hourly wage with a structured work schedule. A commitment of at least 8 weeks is required.

Essential Functions:
  • Assists in drafting and reviewing City contracts, ordinances, resolutions, and other legal documents relative to the administration of legal processes affecting the City.
  • Researches and analyzes law sources (i.e., ordinances, statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles) for a variety of legal issues.
  • Reviews case files and maintains and updates filing systems.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Juris Doctorate program at an accredited law school and has completed the first year of law school.
  • No direct local government experience is required for this position.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of hire.
  • Proficient in Westlaw and Microsoft products.
