Legal Counsel is an early‑career attorney who provides foundational legal support across multiple divisions and state jurisdictions. This role handles pre-litigation and minor litigation matters, conducts legal research, and partners with business teams to address routine issues while developing legal judgment under senior guidance.

Your Responsibilities on the Team
  • Respond to inbound claims and demands, including subrogation claims, subpoenas, and UCC lien claims – working with the divisions and the Risk department to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Work with divisions to address and resolve escalated customer care matters.
  • Handle deposit disputes, including negotiation and resolution with customers and internal teams.
  • Manage trade partner disputes and mechanic's liens, facilitating communication and settlement between Lennar and contractors or vendors.
  • Oversee small claims cases, including preparing witnesses for court and representing Lennar's interests throughout the process.
  • Help manage external law firms on routine and lower-risk matters to ensure cost-efficient, high quality legal support aligned with business goals.
  • Respond to Contractor's License Board complaints and DRE complaints, coordinating with relevant regulatory agencies and internal departments.
  • Assist with other pre-litigation and minor litigation matters as needed.
  • Perform legal research and analysis in support of pre-litigation strategy and regulatory matters, preparing clear memoranda and recommendations for review by senior attorneys.
  • Develop legal judgment through hands‑on experience, feedback, and mentorship, progressively increasing responsibility and complexity of work handled.
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized matter documentation and records across multiple divisions and state jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal record-keeping requirements.
  • Help identify legal risks and emerging trends and propose business-oriented solutions.

Your Toolbox
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in the U.S.
  • 0-5 years of legal experience, with a strong background in litigation.
  • Experience handling insurance defense obligations and/or handling bodily injury claims preferred.
  • Position based in Miami, FL; Dallas, TX; or Irvine, CA.
  • Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels, balancing legal risk with business growth.

Physical & Office/Site Presence Requirements:
This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the incumbent to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.
