The role of Director, Counsel, Legal – Revenue is a full-time attorney position within Asurion's Commercial Contracts team, reporting to the Sr. Counsel, Commercial Contracts. In this role, you will be responsible for (i) drafting and negotiating commercial client agreements, including working closely with internal stakeholders and participating in external-facing contract negotiations with Asurion's clients and (ii) providing day-to-day legal support to Asurion's client services teams. This role requires the ability to facilitate both legal and cross-functional discussions resulting in timely and consistent legal guidance that meets the business needs while mitigating risk.The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong time and project-management and prioritization skills, and will have prior commercial legal experience drafting and leading negotiations, preferably on client-facing agreements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support internal client needs and acts as a liaison; brokers creative solutions for relevant stakeholders
- Develops a thorough understanding of Asurion's business, processes and goals to provide innovative legal solutions that solve unique or challenging problems
- Establishes strong collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams, including legal, underwriting, finance, tax, technology, treasury, comp, and client services
- Has strong drafting, negotiating, collaboration and communication skills
- Demonstrates good analytical skills and judgment to evaluate factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations
- Acts as a trusted advisor and leader to drive results in order to complete transactions and projects, as needed
- Actively seeks operational understanding and implications of initiatives and implements process improvements to streamline support and complete successful transactions
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the bar in Tennessee or active bar membership in good standing eligible to waive into the Tennessee bar.
- 8 to 10+ years of relevant experience; IP, AI and/or privacy experience is a plus
- Experience managing commercial transactions, including drafting and negotiating client agreements
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively understand, consider and address the internal client or business needs while mitigating risk exposure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess strong judgment, confidence, collaborative problem-solving skills, and ability to identify potential issues quickly
- Must be able to independently handle a variety and number of legal matters in timely fashion with minimal supervision
- Exceptional ability to schedule and prioritize work and deliverables to ensure on-time response to a large variety of changing demands/requests/requirements
- Highly organized and driven to thoroughly understand the issue and the possible implications of legal guidance
