The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is seeking a Law Clerk to assist our transactional group. This position offers a unique opportunity to become directly involved in the broad range of legal and policy matters that arise at a public transit agency. Candidate should have an interest in public law.

The Law Clerk will be expected to: gather and review agency records responsive to California Public Records Act (CPRA) requests, employment litigation related discovery requests and subpoenas. In addition, the Law Clerk may be called to analyze statutes and regulations, conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and otherwise assist the Legal Services Department attorneys with their duties in our fast-paced office at this public transit agency.

This position is an up to 30 hours per week position depending on the Law Clerk's availability and workload needs, with flexible hours scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. SacRT is open to a hybrid/remote work schedule for this position, with the exact details to be coordinated with the successful applicant.

Minimum Qualifications:
No work experience is required; however, it is desirable for candidates to possess general working knowledge of public agency law, including the CPRA, and the Brown Act. In addition, candidate must have the ability to research and analyze law sources to prepare drafts for review, approval, and use by attorneys, as well as excellent writing skills and the ability to draft concise, well-researched opinions, memoranda and various legal documents.
