Description:

The Law Clerk will conduct legal research, draft research memoranda, organize and manage litigation documents, and other miscellaneous projects. This will be a 20-30 hour per week role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and organize information for legal forms and documents, including complaints, declarations, discovery requests, responses, and other pleadings.
  • Analyze statutes, and regulations at the federal and state level by researching legislative history, judicial interpretations in court opinions, and trends using standard print texts and computers; preparing legal memoranda based on results of research.
  • Assemble case materials by collecting, organizing, and summarizing information, documents, reports, and evidence.
  • Prepare trial briefs, exhibits, subpoenas, evidence, and motions.
  • Execute research and clerking projects for attorneys outside of assigned department.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation.
  • Pull cases on Westlaw; research and analyze statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treatises, etc.
  • Investigate facts and legal questions in cases to determine causes of action.

Required Experience:
  • Must be a 2nd or 3rd year law student.
  • Strong research, writing and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Westlaw.
