We are seeking an associate in law school class years 2019 through 2022 to join our appellate litigation team in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate should have prior experience with appellate litigation in state or federal court, a strong interest in brief writing, and a willingness to contribute to briefing and legal strategy in both trial and appellate courts. District court or appellate court clerkship experience preferred but not required. Primary responsibilities include researching and drafting motions and briefs, legal research and analysis, and case/client management. Appellate associates at Gibson Dunn generally work on cases in a range of judicial and administrative venues beyond traditional appellate courts, including assisting with dispositive motions and other key submissions in trial court, advising on general legal strategy in pretrial and trial proceedings, and participating in the notice-and-comment process before regulatory agencies.

The annual compensation range for this position is between $310,000 and $420,000. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
