Opportunity:We are seeking a junior associate with one to three years of experience to join our growing Labor Transactions Practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on high‑profile, complex transactions alongside market‑leading practitioners, while playing a meaningful role in a practice that is strategically important to the Firm and closely integrated with Akin's broader transactional platform. About the Practice:
Akin's Labor Transactions Practice advises clients on the labor and employment aspects of complex corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, credit, hybrid and other capital solutions investments, restructurings, and other strategic transactions. We work with public and private companies, private equity sponsors, and other investors to identify, assess, and manage labor‑related risks in connection with deal activity.
Our work includes diligence and structuring advice relating to sophisticated labor strategy in transactional contexts, including in connection with unionized and non‑union workforces, collective bargaining agreements, executive compensation matters, worker classification, and WARN Act compliance. We regularly partner with Akin's corporate, private equity, capital markets, restructuring, and employee benefits teams to deliver integrated, practical solutions for clients navigating complex transactions.
Requirements:
We are looking for talented self‑starters who possess the drive to achieve results for our clients and the ability to assume increasing responsibility in a highly successful international law firm. Candidates must be admitted to, and in good standing with, the bar of the state in which they intend to practice.
- One to three years of substantive experience advising on labor and employment issues in connection with corporate or financial transactions, including M&A, private equity, or restructuring matters.
- Experience conducting labor and employment diligence, drafting and negotiating transaction‑related provisions, and advising on workforce‑related risks and integration issues.
- Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements, labor relations, WARN Act considerations, and employment‑related regulatory compliance is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience working as an active member of deal teams, including direct interaction with clients and other advisors, is desirable.
- This position is required to be available to work in person. All employees are required to comply with the firm's employment policies.
