This position is designed for attorneys who want meaningful courtroom experience, hands-on trial preparation, and mentorship from senior trial counsel while developing strong judgment, professionalism, and litigation skills.
Responsibilities:
- Appear in court for Arraignments, pre-trials, motions, and hearings
- Argue motions and participate in contested proceedings
- Assist with jury trial preparation, including witness preparation and trial strategy
- Review and analyze discovery to identify legal and evidentiary issues
- Draft motions, briefs, and trial-related filings
- Communicate effectively with clients in accordance with firm standards
- Coordinate with staff regarding court schedules and client updates
- Support senior attorneys during jury trials and advanced litigation matters
- Work directly with Senior Attorney Kirk Tarman on case analysis and trial preparation
- Participate in strategic discussions related to litigation posture and trial readiness
- Contribute to case planning through research, preparation, and advocacy
Requirements:
- Active California State Bar license in good standing
- 1–3 years of criminal defense experience
- Strong research skills with proficiency in Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research platforms
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft clear and effective legal documents
- Familiarity with legal drafting, litigation procedures, and courtroom etiquette
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to analyze complex legal issues
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team within a fast-paced environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
