Junior Associate Attorney for Althaus Law

Law Firm – Northglenn and Longmont, Colorado

Althaus Law is a team that focuses on estate planning and probate law. We are looking to find the right fit for our team in the form of a Junior Associate Attorney. This position would support our attorneys, paralegals, and manage their own clients. The position will be fulltime and has room for advancement.

Preferred:
  • Experience in the legal field is a plus but not a requirement
  • Knowledge of Clio, Trello, and Hubspot

Requirements:
  • Graduated law school
  • Ability to communicate well with clients and other co-workers
  • Team-oriented
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to deal with individuals in crisis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage a quickly growing firm
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat (pdf reader)
  • Ability to answer multi-line phone system
  • A sense of humor
  • Love of most animals, but especially dogs

Duties Summary:
The main duties of a Junior Associate Attorney at our firm are first and foremost working well with others and being part of the team. Being part of the team includes protecting and building the law firm's reputation. We also want you to better yourself throughout your career by updating job knowledge with continuing educational opportunities, reading legal publications, and maintaining personal networks.

We require this position to enhance their own reputation and the firm's visibility through networking groups. We also expect this individual to accept ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, explore opportunities to add value to the position, give back to the community through volunteer work, and discover new ways to market our services. You will be organizing information for estate plans and probate court filings, researching law, assembling files, and writing memoranda of law. Other duties include:
  • Answering phones and taking messages
  • Managing the calendar and scheduling appointments
  • Client communication, including following up on client tasks and meetings
  • Thank-you letters
  • Meeting reminders
  • Tracking referral sources
  • Preparing legal documents
  • Greeting and seating clients (every attorney in our office is expected to do this)
  • Preparing and recording deeds
  • Drafting estate planning documents
  • Drafting probate documents and staying up to date on where clients are at in the process
  • Notice to creditors and direct notices
  • Follow up with paper on publication notice
  • Mailings to interested parties
  • Tracking billable hours
  • Organizing and maintaining files
  • Scanning and copying
  • Maintaining supplies
  • Using law firm software (Clio)
  • Maintaining your own time log in the systems as well
  • Running necessary errands
  • Updating Trello

Salary and benefits:
The starting salary for a Junior Associate is $65,000/year. Depending on performance, self-motivation, and an eagerness to improve, advancement opportunities are available. We also provide retirement plans, health insurance, PTO, dental/vision, and other benefits.
