Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, currently has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a Patent Agent/Patent Associate in our Intellectual Property Practice Group in our Los Angeles or Orange County office. This position will support the IP Practice working on the strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios. The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of focused experience in the following areas:
- Drafting utility and design patent applications in:
- Computer/electronics arts (e.g., software, AI/ML/LLMs, telecommunications, integrated circuits, semiconductors, audio processing, batteries and charging systems, power generation, etc.)
- Mechanical/electromechanical arts (e.g., aerospace, space, consumer products, medical devices, etc.)
- Prosecuting patent applications
Candidates should be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark office. If an attorney, candidates should be admitted to practice in California. Candidates with a degree or an advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering and/or computer science are preferred, although candidates with degrees in mechanical engineering or other relevant experience will also be considered. Strong experience drafting complex patent applications in any of the technical areas listed above is a plus. Candidates must have excellent academic credentials, be comfortable working directly with clients, and possess strong writing and analytical skills.

The expected pay range for this position is:
$240,000 - $365,000 per year
Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program. Additional voluntary programs include: voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long term care, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
