Venable LLP's Investigations and White Collar Defense Group seeks a mid-level associate with three to five years of experience to join the team in the New York office.

The ideal candidate will have experience in white collar defense, government investigations, internal investigations, civil enforcement, or complex litigation. Candidates should be interested in representing companies, nonprofit organizations, executives, boards, and individuals in high-stakes criminal, civil, regulatory, and congressional matters.

The successful candidate will have experience with some or all of the following:

• Conducting internal investigations, including witness interviews, factual development, privilege analysis, and preparation of investigative reports
• Responding to government subpoenas, civil investigative demands, grand jury subpoenas, and agency inquiries
• Defending clients in matters involving DOJ, SEC, state attorneys general, inspectors general, congressional committees, and other enforcement authorities
• Handling matters involving fraud, False Claims Act issues, FCPA and anti-corruption compliance, securities enforcement, OFAC/BSA/AML, or related regulatory issues
• Drafting motions, briefs, legal memoranda, interview outlines, written discovery, and responses to government requests
• Managing document collections, productions, deadlines, filings, and multiple workstreams across complex matters
• Preparing witnesses for interviews, testimony, depositions, or trial
• Participating in client education initiatives and business development presentations
• Providing mentorship to junior associates and participating in firm citizenship activities

Strong legal writing, analytical skills, sound judgment, discretion, and attention to detail are required. Trial, deposition, federal clerkship, government, or prior law firm litigation experience is a plus. Candidates should be collaborative, highly organized, and eager to work closely with former prosecutors, trial lawyers, and experienced investigations counsel.

Candidates must hold a juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to and in good standing with the New York Bar. Please include a law school transcript and writing sample with submissions.

The salary range for associate positions is $245,000 to $320,000 per year, depending upon associate level. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of job-related factors including, but not limited to, years of related experience, level of education, skills, credentials and certifications, responsibilities and performance.
